Jokisch -
Instructions for Jokisch Coolants
| Before Use: |
- Remove existing coolant.
- Flush system for 5-10 hours with Jokisch SR-X1
Cleaner at a mix of 1% into the existing coolant by volume to
kill off bacteria and disinfect the tank.
|
During Use: |
- Check coolant with a refractometer twice a week to ensure proper
concentration. When reading coolant mixtures, a clear defined
line indicates a clean coolant and gives an accurate reading.
A fuzzy line indicates high amounts of contaminants such as lube
oils in the coolant, resulting in an inaccurate reading.
- Skim tramp oils once a week. Use a non-emulsifying lubrication
oil such as Interlube 68, or ESSO Febis
K68 (in Canada) or Shell Tonna 68, in that order of effectiveness.
- Remove micro-fines and chips once a month. Pump out coolant
to empty drums once a month. Clean the tanks from accumulation
of micro-fines and chips, and then pump the same filtered coolant
back in. This is important when working with a variety of materials
such as cast iron, aluminum, stainless steel and brass.
- Aerate the tank once a week. Hold an air line into the coolant
tank and aerate tank. This breaks the contact between the micro-fines
at the bottom of the tank resulting in a reduction of the amount
of dissimilar metal reaction.
|
After Use: |
Over time, the base of your coolant reservoir may start to build
up with possible contaminants such as heavy greases and metal fines.
If a variety of metal fines build up and are not filtered or cleaned
out of the coolant tank, an electro-chemical reaction can take place
which will drop the pH value of the coolant. This process may result
in potential rusting and higher bacterial growth.
For disposal, consult your local municipal/county regulations. |
